A&R CAMP INTERNSHIP

The Rare Group is an international creative production company that provides a driven, full-service production team of creatives in music and media. Our company provides a startup Public Relations, Marketing and Artist Development division known as the A&R Camp. We are committed to artistry and creativity to help progress the careers of artists, producers, and songwriters as well as music business personnel. We advance their talent via music production, publishing, artist development and beyond. We offer a wide range of music and audio related services, our core business lies in creating professional music on behalf of the international music industry. Our main focus is creating great productivity that all consumers can enjoy and expand to the brands of our creatives. We are looking for fun interns to join our awesome team in the New York Metropolitan area! At this time, we offer College Credit that involves the experience of working in the Entertainment Industry while attending workshops, concerts and exciting events. The internship is unpaid and full-time 30 hours a week, for a minimum duration of (4) months and can be extended up to six (6) months. Interns work five days per week (30 hours).

Areas that you will be learning about as an A&R Intern:

• Artist and repertoire in the creative process

• Negotiation & Deal-Making

• Artist research and data reporting

• Project management and music distribution

• Delivery requirements for music releases

• Fundamentals of publishing, and sync licensing

• Record label structure, breakdown, and functions

• Effective communication in a professional setting

• Effective creative directing, songwriting and producing

• Fundamentals of budgeting, campaigns, and strategic branding

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Must be a creative thinker/strategic planner

• Must be interested in music production and/or entertainment business

• Prefer digital/technical savvy, and proficient in Keynote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs.

• Ability to pay close attention to details

• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.

• A general understanding of recording, production and creative side of business

For College Student Applicants:

Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in a program at an accredited college or university, with

a desire to work in the entertainment industry upon graduation

Requirements:

Must have performing rights organizations: BMI, ASCAP etc., Registration with Sound Exchange

A&R Intern

Detailed Job Description/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for assistance in creation of production, marketing etc. in all aspects

• Manage and schedule meetings, showcases, and calendars

• Coordinate sessions with producers and songwriters

• Handle travel and itineraries

• Act as a liaison between the label, artists, and management companies that represent them

• After the first 6 weeks the Intern will be tasked with discovering an artist and assigned the A&R position for their own artist

• Work closely with all departments including marketing, publicity, sales, product management, finance and legal

• Assist and participate in coordination of record production. Work with mixing and mastering engineers, studio managers, and artists throughout the process

• Maintain and develop relationships directly with artists

• Scout and research new artist, songwriter, and producer talent for team productions

• Review demo submissions and cover shows

• Coordinate detailed bi-weekly A&R research reports and other scouting projects

• Attend studio sessions

• Assist in budget planning
